Funny how people are irked by different expressions. Gotten for example is old English and landed in America with the pilgrim fathers. The word frightening is going out of business being done for by the overworked scary.
Nobody ever says the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And a bloke who went off topic the other day was accused of going off on a tandem, sadly nobody challenged that.

Don't usually care about any of this stuff but people saying "on accident" instead of "by accident" is really irritating for some reason

I also can't stand 'reaching out'. It's annoying.

Awwww, shuckts. I'm as touched by your sentiments as an under-aged Cambodian cripple.
Still, I'd support the Gavvy fund if you asked for it's help in moving out of your dilapidated, abandoned Upminster lock-up squat, so all is not lost.

Did you see the list of the 25 most hated words that was revealed recently? My friends send emails around asking for dates to meet up for 'Drinkies'. It makes my piss boil. It was 16th on the list but should have been much higher IMHO. Although amazeballs and holibobs were rightly 1st and 2nd. I hate 'reaching out'. "Hello, Mr Blagg I'm reaching out to you today...." "No you're fucking not, you're on the phone - you're speaking to me and you can't do anything else unless you say nothing at all. Which, by the way, suits me down to the ground"

Not offended by it, but it just grates.
The question remains: why use it?

Re: Often times

Often times is multiplying in it's usage; it's fractionally crossed the dividing line.
If you subtract any offense taken, that equals a big plus to take away here.
Guess I'd better offer some sort of topology for all and or not that.

You have to laugh when a poster starts a thread on a football forum about the Autumn Statement and calls others boring, lol.
